According to McKinsey as well as other consultancy firms most change programs fail to reach the set goals. According to the same study the major reason is the individual. May it be the managers behaviour that is not aligned with the change or may it be the individual resisting change. Most of the times change programs rely on communication and training to secure the organizations change behaviour. That is a top down approach nott starting from the individual.

Top Down and Bottom Up

Any relevant change program need to start from the individual and secure that they are ready for change. No matter what the change is. Therefore a change program should not stop communicating and training as they normally do, but also secure that the individual is at its best, ready to embraze the change. To help and organization we need to have helped ourselves.
